Bobcat Near Marymere Falls
I saw “Bob’s” tracks in the mud. Then I saw him deep in the bushes. Then I sat—for a long time. Finally, he came out to say -Hi!
And the Sun rose…
You have to get up REALLY early to catch this. But boy was it worth it.
It’s just a 100 yd hike to the east of the Hurricane Ridge visitor center.
Clear morning
A clear morning after yet another mid-April snowfall down around the 1,000 foot level. This was about a week ago.
Although I’ll still post, I’m away for a few days and may not be able to check in regularly. See you next week!
Hide and seek
You’d think a mountain range as prominent as the Olympic Mountains would stay put. But they play a convincing game of hide and seek, often hiding in the mists of our maritime climate. This makes them all the more stunning when, on a clear morning, they decide to really strut their stuff. By midday on the day I took this shot they were back behind the shroud of clouds.

Olympic sunset
Here’s an Olympic view that flashed past one afternoon recently. The mountains will play hide and seek as weather fronts come and go. They’ll be there at dawn. Turn away and within minutes they’ll be hidden behind a bank of clouds. This late afternoon light and the mountains were gone in seconds.
