In between sets at the Sequim Community Band performance last Sunday, I couldn’t keep from taking this shot of one of the stain glass windows at “Sequim Community Church” . At one time, the church was Sequim Presbyterian Church. They changed to a community church about 2 years ago and have a huge congregation. Although not where I attend church, I have a great admiration for their out reach to youth.
About to Disappear..from it’s present location
Old Town Hall is disappearing from it’s present location. built in 1914, the building served as a town hall and then later as the Public Works Department. When they out grew the space, the building sat empty for the last couple of years. Now the city needs the space to expand the current city hall. The City of Sequim offered it to the highest bidder and the building was purchased for $1001 last week. It will be moved to another location and be renovated with the hopes of attracting a tenant. I’ve also included a small thumnail of the building in it’s present location. Jack-o-Lantern
Happy Halloween to all those tricksters out there! Be safe…make sure you wear reflective tape and look both ways before you cross the street!
Scarecrow Love
In two days the City Daily Photo group will observe theme day. November’s theme is “something that is disappear soon”. Will it be jack’o’lanterns and scarecrows? Stop by and check it out. I will have links to 40 some places around the world with the same theme.
Last of the Soccer Season
Today is the last day for one of the older grandson’s soccer season. This might seem like a silly picture to observe that occasion, but the lights and the changing sky above the field have more than once pulled me away from my love of this game. My official job in this venture is to cheer on my grandson and his team…my unofficial job is people watcher and picture taker. I’ve learned a great deal.
Federal Building
I love the look of the brick and the foliage. The eagle just adds to the overall look. The Federal Building was built in 1933 and in a document about Government Buildings, it is described as a mongrel….”The exterior facade is a combination of Georgian, Federal and Renaissance Revival styles.”
Sequim City Band
This was a musical weekend. The grandkids, my daughter, and I went to see the last concert of the Sequim City Band Sequim City Band until next April. A previous post shows where they perform during the summer months every Sunday afternoon.
As I took the picture, I was reminded of the local joke that Sequim is a town of retirees and their parents…all the white hair in the picture…but honestly, there are some pretty young ones in the back rows.
