Wallabies are found in the same areas as Koalas as they both like to munch Eucalyptus.
Wallabies are very kangaroo like but much smaller at about 3 feet and 40 pounds. (Kangaroos can grow to 8 ft and hundreds of pounds). Unfortunately dozens are killed every night just on Phillip Island as they graze right next to the roads and seem to be attracted to the head lights.
On Phillip Island Australia koalas are anywhere you kind find Eucalyptus. This lil guy was actually awake. They usually sleep around 22 hrs a day (just like my cat!)
This red breasted Cockatoo pair flew everywhere together. Finally they stopped long enough for me to get a good picture. It was really windy so it was hard to get a shot without branches waving in front.
This parrot is colored like a budgie but it was about 12-16″ long so I think it was a different bird. It was so fun hanging out at the Botanic Gardens and looking for all the birds we don’t have in the NW.
