Every year we get swallows in our “barn” birdhouse. There is always one lil chick that hogs the entry and eats all the bugs.
As the waves smashed me into the volcanic wall and I pushed away at the surface I saw my only penguins and got this brief shot before the next wave got me…

This wasp or hornet’s nest (i wasn’t going to stick around long enough to determine!) was shaped like a heart. It was right behind me as I was photographing the Snoqualmie river. Who knew hornets used rebar!
