The new mom came back with a very dead bird…which this one gratefully took and ran off with.
New Mom and quadruplets
This was a first-year mom. The den is right next to a VERY BUSY road. When she would go to hunt her kits would follow then lay down in the middle of the road. (experienced moms would shoo or carry their kits back into the bushes.)
She stayed with them for a bit…then went off to hunt.
The surprise pounce
Who you calling a runt?
This was by far the smallest of the litter. It didn’t jump and play like the rest but usually hid in the grass and played by itself.
Game on…
The black kit was the most assertive of the lot. As soon as mom came back with a mole, he took it from her mouth and took off running. You can see his siblings running in (just a little too late)
Here they are looking to see if there is more…
Good mama
“Broken ear” was an experienced mama and took good care of her 5 kits.
Faraway Friday-Australia
“I think I can reach it”
This ONE Koala was constantly on the move (unlike all the others we saw napping).
