Shaniko is a ghost town east of Redmond Oregon that is very well maintained. I signed up night for a workshop there and when our group arrived there was a 75th anniversary festival with hundreds of people and a band with lit up neon lights flashing everywhere. So THAT made the nite shoot INTERESTING…
Fortunately the sunset was spectacular!
Taken at Sunset from Paulina Peak an hour south of Bend. It has a 360 view of ALL the mountains.
There is an interesting phenomenon in eastern Oregon regarding waterfalls. In the Olympic peninsula waterfalls are all practically dried up and barely flowing this time of year. Here in this VERY VOLCANIC area the water flows from underneath in lava tubes and lava rock and is just as powerful in September. Sure makes photographing them easier!

This is an easy to reach, beautiful waterfall just 1/4 mi walk from the parking lot. It has well maintained trails and great look outs for various views.
Tumalo state Park outside Bend Oregon.
While boating on the hood canal we saw HUNDREDS of eagles dining on crabs during the low tide. I have NEVER seen so many eagles at one time.
