I call this “The Flamenco Dancer”. The way he kept throwing his one wing out while on the branch reminded me of a dancer throwing the bottom of her dress..

Amazon-They have Kingfishers too!
They are just as fast as they are here. I took one shot trying to pan and keep up with him. The other at 1/3200 of a second to try and catch him in flight.
Amazon–It’s jumping
Amazon-Happy Lil Howler
Howler monkies scare me. The big male makes this creepy ongoing ghost like howl throughout the day…make you feel like you’re being haunted by something you cant see. Then when you do see them the males often bare their big fangs and really howl at you.
HOWEVER- we did frequently see the male protecting and teaching the younglings, like in this photo.
Amazon-Woodpecker
This is the Amazon’s beautiful version of a woodpecker.
Amazon– Red Crowned Titi
I love seeing things I CANT see in the Pacific NW. We definitely do not have Red Crowned Titi Monkeys! They look so furry you just wanted to hug them. But I was getting a little intimidated when it VERY quickly started climbing the cable up to my platform above the canopy.
Amazon–Yes there were SNAKES
We were walking back to our room after a jungle hike and our friend behind us was yelling. She was from S Africa so I couldn’t understand her. Apparently I almost stepped on said snake (I though it was a leaf/ branch.) When I turned around my hubby was standing by the Whipit snake. I was still running away!
Debbie returned to her room to find a big pile of poo on her bedroom bench. When she turned on a flashlight and looked around she found a BIG snake curled up in the rafters of her hut! She came screaming out. Management (EVENTUALLY) sent two guys to get it out. They released it about 20ft from her hut. Needless to say she did not sleep that night.
