This Barred owl stayed in the tree for hours…but most often kept one eye sort of open.
This Galapagos SEA LION is an evolution of the California Seal. Note the EARS which makes it a Sea LION… They both like to lounge around in the sun…That hasn’t changed.
The great Blue Heron can be found in the Galapagos too! You can tell we’re not in Sequim with the black lava and Salley crabs.
This tree swallow chick is waiting for one of its parents to bring some yummy take out home.
This mom and pup harbor seal pair were swimming around Protection Island and following our boat. The pup would swim right at the mom’s back and she would stop every 30 seconds or so and lean back to snuggle heads. It was very endearing.
Tufted Puffin. Protection Island used to have the largest breeding colony on the west coast. Unfortunately the predation by bald eagles on the island has driven them off. This year the most I’ve seen is six…This brave guy is looking for a soulmate.
