We learned that the difference from a Galapagos Sea LION and a California seal is that it has ears (which you can see on this singing lil dude). He was just singing away, not afraid of anyone in the group. This was taken from about 12 ft away on the trail that we were required to stay on.

Wildlife Wednesday-Shakey Shakey
This was one of the “diver” bears. There was one family lineage that actually dive down, swim under water, and catch fish that way. Each time he finally came after 30 seconds or so, if he didn’t have a fish, he’d shake his head like a dog.
Running the Sol Duc
Watching these salmon run the rapids up the Sol Duc River to spawn was jaw dropping. They sure are determined. They’d launch and splat on the wall just to the right of this salmon. You could hear the slap from hundreds of feet away. Then they’d get swept back down the rapids…It’s gotta be frustrating even for a fish!
Wildlife Wednesday
I just want one (for now anyway)

Wildlife Wednesday–So Cute
Ok I have a real thing for owls and SEA OTTERS. Can they be any cuter?
I love the big bubbles that appeared every time he popped up. It always looked like he was taking a bubble bath as he scrubbed his fur.
Taken in Homer Alaska.
Faraway Friday-Who am I?
This little octopus in the Galapagos crammed himself into a shell and hid. But I see you. Can you see his eye?
