The royal botanical Gardens were spectacular.. Here a whale was being made out of succulents.
This was one of the few dogs we ever saw in the park. They are not permitted anywhere except the trail. And everyone except a few foreigners followed the rules.
Wildlife Wednesday- It’s a bear out there…

Faraway Friday-Galapagos
It was fun swimming with the sea turtles and trying to capture an above AND below water photo. This was as close as I got!
Wildlife Wednesday- Galapagos Tortoise
It was so cool to see the giant Tortoises walking right down the path looking for some good shade. If you haven’t been, you wont be disappointed. Go to the Galapagos while they are still there and open (permits to visit are getting more and more restrictive.)
What a thrill…
The best way to experience the majestic scenery of the Waimakariri Gorge is in a Alpine Jetboat Thrills excursion, about an hour from Christchurch toward the ski slopes.
These boats jet boats can run in just a few inches of water.
Where’s the sheep?
We went to two of the largest sheep stations with 3000 sheep each. I was supposed to photograph the operations. However two days before we got there they had sold off ALL but 3 of their sheep (2 pets from last year and a new pet called “Lucky”). So all we had were these hillside views. Apparently the whole herd had their lambs 3 weeks earlier than usual. Like many herd species, the whole group had their babies within days of each other. It’s a mechanism to keep as many babies safe as possible against predators.
My husband holding “Lucky” 4 months old when all her brothers were sold off to market.
