We’re back!
My eagle pair are back and nest building. This was on a branch right near my window. He was looking for a tasty fish or duck for lunch.
Welcome Back To The Olympic Peninsula! And SNOW
It has snowed twice already in 2024 here. (I managed to miss the BIG week of snow in January) I woke up to this–the forecasters said sun all day. THE PNW forecasting job would be a great one. You can be right less than 50% of the time and still keep your job! It is very difficult to forecast here because we are the first place all weather disturbances hit first. Then they more predictably flow across the US. The snow is pretty, but I prefer to go visit IT on my own terms. Living here mean usually I can drive just 10-30 minutes and be in snow all winter.
Patience
I waited for over an hour for this eagle to take off. The light was waning away when he finally did. He looks very determined. Was that what my face looked like while I was concentrating on the shot?
Marina in the Mist
It has been SOOOO foggy here recently. I feel like I’m constantly walking in a cloud. From my living room I watch the fog/mist/clouds envelope and release John Wayne Marina all morning
Rest my tail feathers
One of my resident baldy’s came down to rest on the piling in front of my house. He’d been in a 20 minute tussle with several gulls that were pulling at his tail feathers. It always amazes me to see this because eagles routinely EAT GULLS.
My motto is don’t poke the bear…but it seems these gulls had had enough!
Last of the lights
I pass down thru the lit village every night during the holiday season. It just sparks my spirit, it is so festive and pretty. Then they take the lights down and it’s winter and it seems so blah…
