Kinetic Race–Splash Down

The first participant tipped over. He was actually trying to tip as that is how his vehicle floats. HOWEVER, all his floats fell off and he sunk.

The Viking boat did well–but then again it was a boat!

The Top Hats had to back up…they forgot to put their pontoons down…Then they got stuck before the water. (look at her expression-it’s priceless!)

The Kanuks did well. You can see the end of the dock where are the spectators are. That’s where all the teams are headed. You can see a ferry in the background.

The GREAT Port Townsend Bay Kinetic Sculpture Race

What the heck is this you say? Well…Teams creative human powered art that must go thru the streets in a parade, then roll down the boat ramp into the bay, creating the biggest splash possible (or if you can’t do that–have an epic tip over) then paddle over to the dock and back. Lastly exit the water. In past years that was the hardest part but this year most made it out unscathed.

This years’ theme was Kinetic Komedy. Most the town dresses up in…well you’ll see…just about anything!

Famous Door–Port Townsend

This has to be one of the most photographed doors in Port Townsend.

It is the door that leads into what was the Clam Cannery in 1885, right on the water. A decade or so ago people bought the very tired warehouse and transformed it into a beautiful house on the water. The left all the beautiful outdoor patina. It looks like it is now an Air BNB.
