The Sequim Rotary recently hosted its 43rd annual Salmon Bake and Barbeque. The wild Alaska salmon is baked in an open pit over alder. If you like salmon it’s a real treat and they make sure no one leaves hungry. Don’t care for salmon? There are also pulled pork sandwiches. The Rotary hosts the event to raise funds to benefit the local Boys & Girls Club as well as scholarships, a free health clinic, and a variety of other charitable projects.

Chill out
This is for those of you in the steamy red zones on the weather maps, a view after one of our snows last winter. I find respite in a cool daydream when it’s especially hot. . .I hope this can help you endure until cooler days finally come. This is taken from a trail in the Dungeness Recreation Area.
Better late than never
The lavender bloom was late this year because of our long chilly spring. The blooms at Graysmarsh Farm are making up for lost time. The Farm sells u-pick lavender and several kinds of berries. I’ll post more about their berries soon.
Camping at Dungeness Rec Area part 2
Couple more shots from over the weekend. It’s hard to see in the picture, but all along the trail and all over our campsite was little pink flowers (roses? rose hips?) and a whole bunch of buds getting ready to go. The top picture is part of the Dungeness Spit.
Bakery in Sequim
This is inside The Old Post Office Sweets and Gifts shop on Carlsborg Road. My husband had a birthday over the weekend so I went in search of pie for him at our favorite bakery in town. I found it was under new ownership and the owner greeted me and was very friendly and I hope she has much success there.
Twice Loved Books
Twice Loved Books is at 353 West Bell Street and is a great place to stop in Sequim if you are a book-lover like I am! I went on Friday to look for a book and she had one by the author I was looking for and was also able to give me a good suggestion for another one. She has a large selection of paperback books in all different subjects, it is fun to browse around there.
Walk at Dungeness Rec Area
These are two parts of the trail I took at Dungeness Rec Area. In the second one when I came to the meadow three deer were looking at me, but you’ll have to squint to find them probably. Everything is so green still, not surprising with the weather we’ve had.
