Big Brother

Yesterday I took big brother to the hospital to see his mom and our new baby. At first when told he had to wear a mask, he wouldn’t come in. But the chance to see mommy and get some hugs was finally worth the effort. There were tears when it was time to go home and then he didn’t want to go back to stay with his cousin. I ended up with a wiggly, cuddly, 4 year old in my bed Thursday night. The good news is our baby went home Friday night. He was taken off the oxygen for 12 hours and his counts stayed up, the wheezing has stopped…things are looking up! Once again thanks for your care and concern. A good night’s sleep and I’ll be back visiting the world…I do enjoy Daily Photo Blog.

So Tiny

Our family’s new baby is back in the hospital. He will be three weeks old on Thursday. The Doctor suspects viral pneumonia. They have him on oxygen and the doctors and nurses atOlympic Medical Center are taking excellent care. The problem is mom is also sick. Once baby was checked in, fed and hooked up, I took her to the Doctor. He suspects day 5 of the flu. There have been 2 deaths in children in the Seattle area from flu related complications. Naturally we are all worried. I will be posting some photos from my archives with bland comments over the next couple of days. I promise to catch up, but priorities for the moment.

The Old Mill Cafe

After a long absence, I had lunch at The Old Mill Cafe in Carlsburg. The food was excellent. Their clam chowder is just the best. Carlsburg is a spot in the road between the town of Sequim proper and my house. Although the 200 census reports only 800 inhabitants, it does have a post office, a restaurant, an industrial park, and some small shops. It also has a rich history. The log mill, which closed in 1967, was important economic endeavor in this area. A Google search failed to produce a website dedicated to the history of Carlsborg. This surprised me. I have broken the rules and posted a second picture today of a stump in front of the restaurant. The stump was brought to the area from up in the mountains by a generous donor…and possibly a happy customer.stumps.jpg
