A good use for an old door

door.jpg

This photo is from the same garden tour I took. I thought it was a great use for an old door. The top part has been removed. It too was attached to a bench.

Day 12 of my vacation…Humph. It’s geting close to Easter, if not the end of our money. I guess it is time to head for Keyes. If you have not yet found Keyes, I have included this link. Keyes, Ok Don’t let them fool you when it says Keyes Car dealer…you click on that link and it will redirect you to another town. The 2000 census list the town as having 410 inhabitants. It will also tell you the popultion has been declining by 1.8 percent a year.

Hummingbird Spinner

You know, it may be the camera wasn’t set right. All of these smallish pictures were from a “quick…get something so you will have posts and your brother, the enforcer, won’t get on your case.” Something to think about as I take more pictures.

Day 11 of my vacation I don’t know how long we will stay in Santa Fe. Depends on my mom and how she is holding up. I do want to get on over to Taos, Red River and Eagles Nest. That will depend on the weather. Are you checking our progress on the map?

After the Storm

IMG_0015.jpg
The day I was packing up to leave, we had a storm run through town. It was a Sunday and none of the stores were open in this shopping area. I was struck by the sun on the signs and the dark clouds in the background. (another little picture…I promise to learn how to make it so you can click on them and enlarge when I get back)

Day 10 of my vacation The plan is to spend most of the day checking out Albequrque and then head north towards Santa Fe! Ah, if I were only rich. I could retire in this area.

P.S. A little change of plans.  We found a great state park in Ft. Sumner, Bolgadoez _____.  It portrays “The Long Walk” when the Navaho and the Mescalero Apaches were driven to a reservation at Ft. Sumner. Very powerful and very interesting.   Then it was on to the International Folkart Museum in Santa Fe.  2 hours was not enough time.  Google this one.  You will like it.

A nice place to enjoy the sun

Our local car wash has a cool seat outside so that one can rest their weary bones….while someone else much younger does all the work.

Day 9 of my vacation More visiting…then we hit the road! Thelma and Louise–Norma and her mom….no convertible, but hey, we will have fun. Albequerque is our first destination. The idea is we have a slush fund for everything but gas. When we get down to our last 100…we head for a very small town in the Oklahoma Panhandle called Keyes. (this town does not have a stop light, library, grocery store, shopping mall… but it has some of the nicest people you could ever want to meet)

Flowering Plum

IMG_0008.jpg
Did I mention I have a new computer? Well it has all the bells and whistles but I have not yet learned to use all of them. This picture is too small…if I raise it to the size I normally post, it looks “pixelly”. Unfortunately, I don’t have time to learn before I left. This gorgous flowering plum was in a friend’s yard. Please bear with me.

Day 8 of my vacation We should be at the home of one of the aunts in Clovis. I am looking forward to this part of the trip. I want to visit with a cousin who is there now…and I don’t even want to admit to how many years its has been since we saw each other.

P.S. Shopping, eating, visiting…now that’s a vacation.  We head for Santa Fe/Taos tomorrow.  Thanks to  all of you who have visited. I’ll be home in a week.

April Theme Day…Public Mail Box

mail.jpg
I have no idea why I signed up for this theme day. Public mailboxes in my hometown are boring. As I am on the road, I will have ask my brother to add the links. If he should get busy and forgets, I know you can find them by visiting the Greenville, SC blog.

Through the magic of the Internet, the commitment of the City Daily Photo Blug community, and a little help from Norma’s brother; you may follow these links and see mailboxes from around the world: London (UK) Grenoble (France) Rotterdam (Netherlands) Greenville SC (USA) Hyde (UK) Villigen (Switzerland) Albuquerque NM (USA) Mazatlan (Mexico) Montréal (Canada) Stayton OR (USA) Shanghai (China) -Jing Arradon (France) Sequim WA (USA) Newcastle upon Tyne (England) Seattle WA (USA) -Kim Bastia (Corse) Minneapolis MN (USA) Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia) Joplin MO (USA) Sharon, CT (USA) Cottage Grove MN [USA] Houston, TX (USA) -Candice & Megan Singapore – by Keropokman.
