This is one of the heritage farmhouses that can be found around town. Most locals are familiar with seeing its front side from Priest Road. This is from behind.

New in the neighborhood
Alpacas! And aren’t they cute? They recently showed up at a small farm that sold last year. I’d feared that the farm might become a new subdivision but that hasn’t happened. The old farmhouse got a new coat of paint this year – a very good sign – and then came a trio of these cinnamon colored cuties.
They’re certainly pretty animals.
And they’re entertaining. This one obliged when I suggested “roll over!” (Not really. Maybe when I get to know them better.)
At a distance these well groomed guys remind me of standard poodles with long necks.
White barn
The light on this farm was irresistible but it took a minute before I could safely stop. By then it was fading. {{Sigh}}
Blue Olympics
Sometimes the Olympic Mountains present themselves in shaded tones, layer on layer of mountains moving into the distance. Always softly tinted and subtle.
Late poppy
Freezing nights. Rain. Winds. We don’t see too many of these around now.
Serene
Sometimes a spot just looks welcoming.
Mother Nature does her thing
We walk in the Dungeness Recreation Area a lot. When we first came to Sequim we walked a trail that led us along the bluff from one overlook to another, and then beyond, to the north and south. The overlooks afford views of the Strait of Juan de Fuca with Victoria and Vancouver Island, British Columbia in the distance. Over the years first one section of the sandy bluff and then another and another still gave way to forces of erosion. The overlook shown above started its slide last June, shown here. A month or so later it looked like this. Today, above, there’s a fence where the trail has been routed inland. You can see the approximate location of the former trail where the wooden fence is in the distance.
Vegetation was cleared to allow more parking. The former overlook is in the distance at the left of this photo.
