I’m pretty sure this is a red-tailed hawk. He or she was at the top of a tree, checking out a nearby open field.

Little mountains
Can there be such a thing as a plague of moles? Or gophers. Or voles. It seems I’m seeing these mounds everywhere, in lawns and gardens that didn’t have them before. You can trust there are some unhappy gardeners.

I’ll hand it to them
This seems like a big selection of work gloves to me. It was at the Coastal Farm store. I used to buy small ladies work gloves whenever I saw them because I found them so rarely. No shortage here.
Anemone alert
It took a moment for the sight to register in my mind: Flowers!
Sweet little anemones are a welcome sight on a cold winter’s day.

Lately we’ve had a lot of grey days but I can still find myself taken by the view.
Toad Hall mascot
There’s a very nice house in town that has a distinctive sign that declares its name as “Toad Hall.” We drove closer and saw two of these big toads on pillars, one on each side at the entrance. They’re distinctive. But I unfortunately can’t look at them without thinking of Jabba the Hut in Star Wars.
