I had to work very hard for this image–due to the neon light pollution coming from the stage to my right. My ghost town decided to have a 75 yr festival the nite I showed up!

Sunset over Shaniko Ghost town
Shaniko is a ghost town east of Redmond Oregon that is very well maintained. I signed up night for a workshop there and when our group arrived there was a 75th anniversary festival with hundreds of people and a band with lit up neon lights flashing everywhere. So THAT made the nite shoot INTERESTING…
Fortunately the sunset was spectacular!
Luv those layers!
Taken at Sunset from Paulina Peak an hour south of Bend. It has a 360 view of ALL the mountains.
If you continue past the main Tumalo falls there are several smaller but beautiful falls.
There is an interesting phenomenon in eastern Oregon regarding waterfalls. In the Olympic peninsula waterfalls are all practically dried up and barely flowing this time of year. Here in this VERY VOLCANIC area the water flows from underneath in lava tubes and lava rock and is just as powerful in September. Sure makes photographing them easier!

Tumalo Falls
This is an easy to reach, beautiful waterfall just 1/4 mi walk from the parking lot. It has well maintained trails and great look outs for various views.

I’m a Grandma!
I’ve been in Bend for the last month, awaiting the very late arrival of my grandson! So the month of September will be allot of photos from the central Oregon area, which like the peninsula has grand landscapes at every turn. It is a photographers dream.
