You see bald eagles everywhere on the peninsula at his time of the year. They are actively hunting to feed their voracious chicks.

When protective instincts don’t work.
I was heading out to photograph birds about 6am. A deer crossed the road before me (not unusual) so I slowed and stopped because when 1 goes there is usually another.
THEN this lil guy tumbled down the side bank, got up took a few wobbly steps then saw my car and just dropped down in hide/you can’t see me mode.
I took this thru my front window, waited for him to get up…NOPE.
Mom came back and encouraged it and then noticed my car and ran up the original bank. I waited….but cars were starting to come. I directed them around. I tried to go near it and shoo it off the road. No movement.
So I went and got a towel, wrapped it up , carried it to the trail at the top of the bank and put it in the woods. (mom was no where to be seen). He was barely bigger than my cat and clearly just a few hours old.
Then I hear more cars so I moved mine to a driveway, got my camera and peaked to see if it was up–but it was gone. WHEW!
Rest up lil Siskin
This lil Pine Siskin was resting on my rock…he looked a little dazed and didn’t move as I ran back into the house to get my camera. (Don’t worry he flew off a few minutes later!)
Surrounded by beauty
Living in Sequim you are surrounded by beauty in every direction…
Either the Olympic mountains to the south or the Straight of Juan de Fuca to the north. And for me I get the added sights of Sequim Bay. This was take thru my living room window.
Wildlife Wednesday-Bald Eagles NEVER fail to get my attention…
When this guy landed on the tippy tip of this tree, it wanged back and forth so hard I didn’t think he’s stay. But those talons grip well!
My Bleeding heart…
This is one of the first flowers beside daffodils to bloom in my garden each year.
I took it outside in the daylight but just lowered the exposure of the background to really make them stand out.
