Here is a blossom, another part of the life cycle of the dandelion which I featured in yesterday’s post. Our neighborhood is virtually paved with these blossoms this time of year. You can see in this shot that there are two more blossoms opening and another bud nearby. They’re no sooner mowed than up they pop again, brightening the landscape in yellow blossoms. Frankly, I think they duck under mower blades and pop up laughing, “Gotcha, sucker!”

It’s happening…at long last
Spring started gently, quietly. Then in the last week it broke loose. First a few frogs declaring themselves. Then a growing daily raucous choruses. A couple of swallows. Now a dozen. A fellow walker today spied two bluebirds. And daylight is getting deliciously longer. I can definitely handle this.
Spring harbingers are resilient
It’s gotten below freezing overnight several times recently but so far it hasn’t discouraged some early heralds of spring. Hooray for that! I saw these blossoms yesterday.
YES!!
First crocus! Spring is coming!
Floral fun
My nasturtiums have been going great gangbusters this year. They started early. By mid-summer they looked like they’d had it for the year. Now they’re back again, even more glorious than before.
Some of the volunteers have stripes and are different shades than the originals. The plants have reseeded and come back on their own.
