The old Three Crabs Restaurant is history. The building foundation is gone and the ground is scraped flat. Across the street a new road up and over the marshland is being built. Beyond the photo to the right there is a gap in the raised soil to let river water flow through.

Fog cloaked
The fog rolled in suddenly and then disappeared just as quickly. But it briefly cloaked one of my favorite trees in an air of mystery.
Over yonder
I like those fence posts disappearing into the distance.
Out for a stroll
These quail were ahead of me on the trail the other day. This year’s young are now almost as large as the adults.
Sky and water
Sometimes it’s hard to tell where the water ends and the sky begins.
Nothing better
DH has begun crabbing with a neighbor this summer and they’ve been doing very well. Crab is one of my favorite foods so we’ve had some great meals.
West coast crabs are frequently the Dungeness variety. Ours come from the place they’re named for, Dungeness Bay. How local can you get?
Summer serviceberries
Last spring I posted pictures of the abundant blooms of these native bushes here. Today’s shots are an update on what those blooms from the serviceberries have become. As we might have guessed from the masses of spring blossoms, we have a bumper crop of berries this summer.
Bushes are covered with berries. And though I haven’t always found them tasty in the past some of the trees are bearing pretty palatable offerings this year. I’m sure the local birds are grateful.
