Java: Coffee time in Sequim

Living in the Pacific Northwest means never having to worry where to get your next cup of coffee. I’ve been struck by how many coffee shops and kiosks we have for a small town. So join me in the coming days to tour Sequim’s local coffee spots. Starting at the east end of town here’s the first one on Washington Street, Adagio Bean and Leaf.

Loafin’ around

I think the French have a handle on living a good life.  There’s usually a good boulangerie (bakery) in the neighborhood where people can pick up the day’s loaf of bread, fresh and delicious. Pane d’Amore in Sequim is nestled off Washington Street and is easy to miss but it offers the kinds of artisan breads that say “life is good” and can spoil you for anything else. Their baguette makes me dream of Paris.

One quickly learns to not get there late in the day, as I did. They may be easy to miss, but they have a loyal following and if you arrive toward the end of the day the selection may be slim.

The nice ladies who work there begin their day with the racks to the right full of beautifully made breads as well as cookies and a selection of pasteries.

There is also a small selection of goodies for a nice gourmet gift basket or a well stocked larder at home.

Pan d’Amore breads are offered in other stores around Sequim and they also have bakeries on Bainbridge Island and in Port Townsend.

Now open for business

The new Grocery Outlet store has opened, although the official “Grand Opening” is today. They’re advertising free coffee and treats, face painting and caricature portraits, ice cream floats, balloon twisting, and a variety of drawings for prizes.  The newness hasn’t worn off yet for its next door neighbor, Ross Dress for Less, which opened just a few weeks ago.

Twice Loved Books

Twice Loved Books is at 353 West Bell Street and is a great place to stop in Sequim if you are a book-lover like I am!  I went on Friday to look for a book and she had one by the author I was looking for and was also able to give me a good suggestion for another one.  She has a large selection of paperback books in all different subjects, it is fun to browse around there.

Theme Day-Under Construction

Today is theme day for City Daily Photo and it is also the one year mark of me posting pictures to this site.  My goal in the back of my mind when I started was one year…so mission accomplished.  Special thanks to those who visit, especially those who leave comments and let me know you are out there.  Without that, I’d probably have lost motivation.

This picture above is where Ross Dress for Less and the Grocery Outlet are coming to Sequim.

The Red Rooster Grocery

I went to the Red Rooster Grocery store yesterday to grab some salad greens, avocados and sweets for my sweet.  I got him a piece of fresh chocolate pie and some Yvonne’s Chocolates truffles that he really likes.   He about did a back flip over the pie too.  The place is a little hidden (directions on their website), but it’s a nice store to check out.
