Cape Coral has the largest population of burrowing owls in Florida. They are tiny reaching only 9 inches in height and weighing only 4-7 ounces.

Bubble Bubble dating trouble
This male Barrow’s Goldeneye was really trying to impress this female. He would dive and flap and make lots of bubbles in the process.
Good things come in pairs…
This bonded pair (did you notice the second one below?) has been hunting in the bay all week long. They are reinforcing their nest (they usually come back year after year) and will will have babies soon.
We’re back!
My eagle pair are back and nest building. This was on a branch right near my window. He was looking for a tasty fish or duck for lunch.

Look at me–I’m so pretty
This red breasted Cockatoo pair flew everywhere together. Finally they stopped long enough for me to get a good picture. It was really windy so it was hard to get a shot without branches waving in front.
Birds of a color…
This parrot is colored like a budgie but it was about 12-16″ long so I think it was a different bird. It was so fun hanging out at the Botanic Gardens and looking for all the birds we don’t have in the NW.
