Views of Sequim, the Olympic Peninsula. . .and beyond
The early settlers here may have found the best lands for ranching and farming but they also chose gorgeous locations. The barn faces toward the Olympic Mountains. That is Mount Baker in the background. It and the Cascade Mountains are on the eastern side of Puget Sound and typically not visible on overcast days.
Sometimes I drive myself crazy. And I do it especially — and literally — driving. I see a great shot, then try to figure out if I should stop and take a picture. Then I look for a place to stop. And now, since I’m some distance from the shot, I have to figure out where to turn around. Occasionally the shot is still there by the time I get back.
Monday the sky was full of cloudy drama. The light was great. Then I spent a long time. Driving. Myself. Crazy.

Although we had rain enough, we didn’t get the truly nasty wet and windy hit that much of the West Coast suffered on Thursday. We’ve just had soggy and more soggy, grey clouds pouring down the Olympic Mountains until it’s hard to tell land from sky.
Here’s a closer view of the barn I showed you yesterday.
This is one of my “why I love it here” shots. It includes one of my favorite barns. It’s big, red, and well cared for. I love the great sense of space around it. I love the mountains beyond. And I love how the weather can add so much drama…yet ten minutes later be completely different, as it was.
This is a view I see often. I’ve yet to tire of it.
Here’s a barn that’s in somewhat better condition than the one I showed you yesterday. That’s lavender you see in the foreground and I must say that it’s looking good around here these days. I’ll show you more lavender in the coming days.
