This is a view I always like.

City view
A nice view with Bell Hill in the background.
The sign says it all
I’ve regularly seen the fields on the other side of this barn as I’ve passed on Old Olympic Highway. Cattle graze here. But the buildings are hard to see from a passing car so I took a short drive down a nearby road.
The operation is called “Rubberneck Ranch.” The sign explains: “Where our business is everyones.”
Found barn
One of the pleasures of driving down an unfamiliar road is unexpectedly coming across the odd barn here and there. Our agricultural heritage is never far away.
The Clark barn
I’ve shown the Clark barn, above, before but always at a distance. Here it is, up close and enormous. The Clark Farm is the oldest continuously operated family farm in the state of Washington, originally settled in 1853.
Not far from the barn is Clark’s Chambers Bed and Breakfast, located in the updated old family house. Four bedrooms on the second floor offer beautiful views of the Olympic Mountains, the Strait of Juan de Fuca, and Mt. Baker and the Cascades. We enjoyed staying here a couple of times before we permanently moved to Sequim.
Stripes
The stripes on the roof of this barn should be familiar to anyone who drives along Hendricksen Road.
Based on these occupants I don’t think there’s much going on in this barn.
Old familiar barn
Most locals driving on Sequim Avenue are sure to recognize this barn and silo. I’ve featured it before but not from this more common view.
