Views of Sequim, the Olympic Peninsula. . .and beyond
After I left Miss Honda off at Sunnyside on Friday, I walked down Sequim/Dungeness and stopped in at Hurricane Coffee Company for my morning java. The folks there are friendly, know the regulars names, and have good coffee. There is a beautiful tree in front budding out. Don’t know the name, but it looks beautiful early in the morning.
This time of year is very dangerous for me to visit nurseries…heck I can’t even visit Costco without walking out with something. (and we had snow last weekend) This beautiful basket is at Sunny Farms Farm Store. There you will find a multitude of healthy plants to choose. You will also get good advice from the employees. The lovely lady in the first thumbnail is Dana. She can help you choose plants to complement any area of your garden. She will also listen patiently as you describe any gardening problem you might have.
Friday Miss Honda had to go in and have her timing belt replaced, a new water pump, valve covers, etc. (Ouch!) But I believe in maintenance and I really like Chris Porter at Sunnyside Auto. He and his family are honest, forthright, and give quality service. This little gem sits on the counter for the customer to fiddle with while waiting. (the gears move)
Across Gilbert Road from yesterday’s post stands a tall eagle balloon, advertising a Jayco sale. He certainly catches the eye as you are driving down the road….but he has been there for quite some time. Must be a long sale.
On the corner of Gilbert Road and Highway 101 stands a fleet of recreational vehicles. With the rising price of gas, I wonder if they will ever be sold and “hit the road” again. Our area is a gateway to recreation spots on the Olympic Peninsula. With gas forecasted to go up another 30 cents in the not to distant future, I wonder how many that already have owners will just stay parked this summer.
You hear a great deal about the downturn in the housing market, the economy going south, and other concerns for our economic well being. There are those in Sequim who are doing their best to keep people working. I don’t know what this building will be…but I’ll do some sleuthing and see if I can let you know.
