As part of the Irrigation Festival, a logging show is help near Carrie Blake Park. Logging trucks hauled their loads down the middle of main street, celebrating an industry that has long been part of this area in the Northwest. I was struck by this sign on one of the loads. Children’s Hospital

The Irrigation Festival Royalty
The lovely young ladies on this float are representing Sequim in 12 different parades this spring and summer. They have already made numerous appearances. The theme of the parade was “112 years and Still Rocking!”
Shriners for Kids
I don’t personally know a lot about the Shriner organization, but I do know of two familes whose children have benefited from their generosity.
Friends of the Fields had a nice sign
It's A Parade!
Now what would a parade be with out flags and a tribute to Veterans? Ours started out with a bang! There were old cars in the pre-parade, floats, color guards, marching bands, dancing groups, new cars, and BIG trucks, (my big boy’s personal favorite.) Now what would a parade be with out flags and a tribute to Veterans? Ours started out with a bang! There were old cars in the pre-parade, floats, color guards, marching bands, dancing groups, new cars, and BIG trucks, (my big boy’s personal favorite.) The weather was perfect, the crowds well behaved, and as they say, a good time was had by all. I used the pan feature on my camera and ended up with 700 plus shots….not all of which were worth saving. I will be sharing some of them with you this next week…but then I promise I will move on to something new.
Sequim High School Operetta
As part of the Irrigation Festival, Sequim High School presented it’s 41st annual operetta, 7 Brides and 7 Brothers. Friday was opening night…and it was fantastic. I do hope local readers get a chance to attend. I plan on going a second time. Here three of the brothers are singing “Lonesome Polecat”. For those of you who might not be familiar with this story, it is worth checking out a DVD or video and enjoying a great musical.
Today’s the day! I’m getting sun and wind burned…and hopefully a lot of good photos.
Audubon Society Booth
I love activites that are fun and educational. The Audubon Society provided this for the little ones. They made rubbings of bird feet..and…(my favorite)…handed out books. Love those books!
1 day and counting….(my daughter took my bag chair this evening…she is setting up our chairs early Saturday morning in order to save our place along the parade route)
