Living at the foot of the Olympic Mountains you wouldn’t think I’d get that excited by more mountains. But this view from Homer Bay was filled with so many layers. And I’m a sucker for layers.

From Homer Spit, you’re looking south across Kachemak Bay and that close peak is China Poot peak, which sits back from the head of China Poot Bay. We used to camp between China Poot and Peterson with our Zodiac, and put out our crab pots for dungeness crab there. And there’d be salmon and halibut and clams- Seafood Fest!
Thanks so much for the info Gary…It was a crazy day with 9ft swells (everybody else turned around and the fisherman didn’t even go). So our captain was a little too busy to keep any commentary going! I LOVE actually knowing what I photographed…
What an amazing to spot to camp that would be.
Magnificent.
