April is when a keen eye can find fairy slippers (calypso bulbosa) on the forest floor.
They’re tiny; they are a miniature genus of orchid.
The flower isn’t much larger than the tip of a human thumb but it’s a day-brightener when you find one.

We call it “bosnimf” in English “wood nymph”! Isn’t it beautiful ?!
It’s always nice to discover a “nymph” in the forest, right?
Very pretty!
What beautiful little flowers! It would be fun to hunt for them.
I don’t think I’ve heard or seen them before but they are beautiful.
That is magical!
We gave little orchards like that at our bush block but they haven’t shown up for several years because of the drought. Perhaps they will appear again this spring. I hope so, I get very excited when they appear. So sad you can’t walk your bush tracks.
Oh so pretty – what a treasure.
