Keep out

A sign of the times: the public is no longer welcome at the Dungeness Recreation Area.

I can understand that camping has been discontinued. But so has walking. Beyond the gate and this sign is another that reads “Do Not Enter.” And just in case it wasn’t clear, yellow caution tape has also recently been strung across the signs and bollards.

  1. Similar things happening here also. Thanks to people ignoring pleas to stop mingling and not following recommendations to stay 6 feet away from each other, the Public Health Guardian ended up closing facilities. People are simply not following the social distancing to slow the pandemic spread.

  2. Sad to see so many parks being closed. Last I heard you could still use the ODT, with social distancing.

    Take care, Kay.

    1. We’ve had a lot of day visitors as people are fleeing the Seattle metro area. It may be an effort to protect our population as the virus rate grows here. (Last weekend a local restaurateur reported a ten to one ratio of visitors to locals picking up food. Not good if you’re trying to reduce exposures.)

  3. Unfortunately there are some people who won’t abide by those rules. There have been some people here arrested for deliberately coughing in people’s faces. The people arrested were males of course and they think it’s funny.

  4. I have been wondering about the messaging saying people can go outside but just for short walks. Seems odd to me as the virus is not in the fresh air. But I can see it would potentially be a problem in cities and in busy tourist places where there can be too many people in one place.
