On Friday I posted a photo of some of the beautiful woods available at Edensaw in Port Townsend. It led a local blog follower, George Seifert, to share with me photos of some of the marquetry work he has done with woods from Edensaw. George noted that the work was copied from an original design by John Jeggo. That should not detract from the beauty of this work on which George placed 353 separate pieces of wood. Isn’t it gorgeous? See what I mean about the beauty of wood grain? Thank you for sharing, George.

That is absolutely gorgeous. Beautiful work, George!
Thanks for sharing.
Wow – that is outstanding work!
This is lovely. I am amazed at the beauty of marquetry. I am glad to have one piece by Australian Master Craftsman Michael Retter http://retter.com.au/ I have had it for years and never tire of looking at it.
I didn’t know the term before, but I’ve seen this style. It is quite something!
A stunning piece of work Kay, I can only imagine the time and patience it took to get exactly the right colour of wood, and the shaping.. astounding!
Thanks all for your kind words. Yes, selecting the right woods is the most difficult part of making a picture. Aside from that it’s just a lot of patience to cut out and glue in all those pieces.
