I discovered this tiny egg resting on a branch of our tree. It was perfectly formed, perhaps a quarter the size of a chicken egg. No nest, no bird nearby.
The best I can guess is what was suggested by a friend: it had been snatched, then dropped by a marauding bird in the “Your Offspring, My Dinner” wars.
After a few days the egg disappeared without a trace.
Something strange in you neighbourhood… Who you gonna call?
A mystery indeed Kay, I think your friend may be right, stolen from a nest and dropped.. what a shame ✨
The cycle of nature, as it is.
Could be the equivalent of having a baby in the car on the way to the hospital. She just couldn’t quite make it to the nest
A mystery egg. Here one day, gone the next, you’re the witness. 🙂
A little bit sad to see, Kay!
