Despite some very cold days and nights we still have hummers around. They can adapt to short bouts of severe weather by lowering their body temperatures at night, entering into torpor (dormancy), or converting more sugar to fat.

We don’t have hummingbirds so I am super impressed with images of them.
A pretty little one!
Strong tough little bird. Nice capture!
I’m amazed that the wee things are around in cool weather. We only see them in summer!
So pretty! I have Ruby Throated Hummingbirds in my yard right now.
