Killdeer are perky, active little birds living throughout the western U.S. Though it is a shorebird it can be found in all sorts of places inland. I can spot them typically by following their seemingly continuously fussing and calling, day and night. They will nest on any open ground, which means even a gravel driveway will do, an unpleasant surprise if no one’s driven for a few days during nesting season.

It seems they are similar to our Plovers.
Terrific shot. We have them here as well.
That is a great pic of this fine bird, Kay!
What a cute litte bird posing just for you.
A beautiful bird and one I have never seen before!
Oh it’s a wee beauty Kay but really, nesting on a drive way is not a good plan 😱
