I went looking for trumpeter swans after Christmas. I didn’t find them where I usually do but did find a small flock not far from the Dungeness River, poking around for a little lunch. The grey swan is a juvenile. It will retain this color through spring. The flocks that winter in Washington state nest in Alaska during warmer months.

They truly are beautiful creatures.
They’re so pretty!
Fascinating birds to see and watch.
Snow birds! If I had wings I would head south too!
looks like Clapp Farm on Anderson. I’ve been seeing them in another Nash field on Ward Rd. too. It is easier to spot the eagles along the river there also as the leaves are gone. Sure do enjoy your pictures.
Thanks, Dennis. This was taken on Ward Road. There weren’t any swans on Anderson Road the day I went looking.
The funnest thing about these birds – so far as I’m concerned – is the way they can twist their necks into various configurations. Thanks for sharing ’cause I don’t think we have trumpeter swans here in central Florida. Wish we did, though.
