Our friends/neighbors are gone visiting family, leaving their chinchilla, Timmy, in need of care. I’d never seen a chinchilla before, much less been responsible for one. But I’ve never let details like that stop me before.
He’s cute. His fur is as soft as a cat’s, though shorter, and very, very dense. His regular diet is a chinchilla food mix and timothy hay. But his treats are what brings him scurrying to say hello. Dried fruit, sunflower seeds, an almond. That’s how you make friends with a chinchilla.
I took this shot with my phone and Timmy doesn’t stay still. I may try another portrait with my camera to see if I can capture him better.
I have never seen or heard of one. Something new to learn every day when blogging.
Oh my, Timmy is adorable Kay, I don’t think I’ve ever seen a chinchilla before , somehow this is not what I expected them to look like 😀
What an adorable creature. At first look, i thought it was a wee baby elephant. 🙂 I never seen one of these either, how cute is this! Nice shot, he does look a bit shy though.
I’ve heard of them before, just never saw one. Rather cute!
Timmy is a cutie!
You are full of surprises. I’ve heard of chincillas but have never seen one in the wild or in captivity. At first I thought it was something else altogether. I had the same thought as did Bill initially – that is was some kind of baby elephant! Good luck. Perhaps you could write a book when your chincilla adventures are over. I will buy a copy, honest. 🙂
