One of our main thoroughfares, Old Olympic Highway, has been closed to traffic for months. An old, narrow bridge over a creek was removed, the roadway was widened, and a new bridge is going in. Those of us who regularly use Old Olympic have to reroute, impatiently awaiting completion of the work.
After rain delays the first cement pour of the new bridge went in last week. There’s clearly work to be done but there’s talk of completion next month. It’s looking good.
The end results will out weigh the inconvenience of the construction.
That’s something to look forward to Kay, especially if you’ve had to go out of your way! Hope we get a look at the finished project ✨
Is this a bridge over troubled waters? Your weather can’t be too bad if bridges are being built during the winter. Sometimes I wish all the construction here could halt for awhile so the noise and racket would subside for awhile.
Replacing a bridge is always a big job. When it’s done here on a freeway, the technique is to build the new one close to the one to be replaced, and then fit it in over a weekend.
Very encouraging!
I bet lots of people will be glad when the work is completed. Coming soon, the new and improved bridge. 🙂
