We have great blue herons in Sequim but I was tickled with several unobstructed views that I had on our recent visit to the Skagit Valley. This fellow was perched in a tree; by the time I caught him in my lens he’d taken off directly overhead.
This one gave me a rather pleasing vanity shot.
Oh, those feathers! Great blue herons are really beautiful birds, aren’t they?
They really are elegant birds Kay, I love it if I ever get a chance to snap one.. you’ve captured the most fab shots over the last few posts.. a trip to remember!
I’m quite fond of blue herons. They do migrate out of here for the winter, but are a common sight in the rivers throughout the rest of the year.
Very fine photography. Love blue herons. I think, though, that you ruffled the feathers of that last one! 🙂
Yes they are! Wonderful photos. I also like seeing little blue herons.
Those are some awesome shots, Kay. They are gorgeous birds. The last photo, it looks like a walk down the walkway of a fashion show., very pretty!
They are cool looking birds.
Three nice takes on this beautiful bird. You are reminding me that I haven’t seen as many blue herons this year in Naples as usual. I wonder where they have gone. Time to go looking . . .
Nice shots — especially the one in flight. I never get tired of seeing Great Blue Herons. So much fun to watch…especially when they sidle up to a fisherman and patiently wait for a snack.
