We met friends for dinner in Port Townsend recently. We arrived early enough to enjoy the views in the late afternoon sun. I love the detailing on many of Port Townsend’s historic buildings.
This 1889 building currently houses the Waterstreet Hotel.
This building has recently been gutted and is being upgraded and strengthened. The beautiful exterior remains in place.
Nice photos Kay. The bright light did a good job of exposing the details. These buildings are from an era when art was part of the outside decor. I am glad they are still standing as reminder of the past.
Our contemporary architecture just cannot complete with these classic structures!
Should be “compete”–am I the only one who HATES automatic correction?!
You can’t beat the late afternoon sun for photography! What gorgeous structures are these. That first shot reminded me of San Francisco for some reason. Your photos are superb and I think I’d like to visit Port Townsend sometime. I could stay in the Waterstreet Hotel, right?
They are spectacular buildings, especially in that beautiful light.
The architecture is beautiful and nice light on those buildings. They look fantastic. Thanks for the link and the background on Mr. Hill who was a very interesting man. The hotel is a masterpiece.
Wonderful architectural details!
Oh they certainly knew how to build beautiful buildings back then! Wonderful details Kay.
