We spent a couple of days at Fort Flagler State Park last week. It is an historic park with a number of military batteries built for coastal protection in the early 20th century. In addition to its being a beautiful location the old fortifications are worth exploring.

There’s something very pleasing about this photo. I think it’s the stairs cutting through making such a nice diagonal. Plus, I like anything black and white!
This reminds me of Fort Stevens in Oregon. I went camping in the area with my daughter and took lots of photos back in the early 90s. It was a very interesting place to explore. Thanks for the reminder Kay.
Have a wonderful day!
Absolutely Kay, I find this sort of thing fascinating, to imagine the scene back then.
You could take pretty much the same pic at Fort Rodd Hill, on our side of the water, that we built to protect us from you guys!
It looks quite sturdy.
