Some of the household equipment in my neighbor Sharon’s antiques collection is stuff I’ve seen over the course of my life, some is unfamiliar. The old Coca Cola menu was a fixture in many a cafe over the years.
Sharon’s laundry room is bright and beautiful, filled with signs and products that are part of the American heritage. (Note the sign that says “There’s a wealth of health in Karo,” corn syrup sweetener. I’m sure there are more than a few nutritionists who might contend otherwise.)
Looking back at some of this stuff (like theold timey washer), I’m happy to live in more modern times! 😉
They must spend hours scouring antique shops and flea markets to amass this enormous collection of items of bygone years.
Kate, they were dealers for over 30 years — part time, in addition to their full time jobs. It’s a true labor of love.
I remember most of those things. The wall phone looks identical to one my grandmother had in her farm house in northern Minnesota. And it was an open line. I recall she would often tell people to get off the line while she was talking to someone else! Those were the days – when apples were apples!
Very, very nice “stuff”, though I imagine dusting is an issue!
A couple of friends mentioned the same thing today.
The old phone reminds me very much of one that hung in our house when I was growing up. Didn’t work, it was just decorative.
Oh yes indeed Kay, there would be many yesteryear products that modern day nutritionist would be shocked by. Is that an old clothes press there in the first shot?
Yes, Grace, I think it is. And that’s some sort of vacuum or floor sweeper on the lower left.
Wow, I remember seeing some of those signs. Your neighbor has a lot of interesting stuff, I’m impressed.
Great collection.
Seeing an antiques collection is making me twitch. I have a rather specialized collection and I am really worried about how to dispose of it.
