We have a lot of mourning doves hanging around lately, puffed up and frankly looking cold and miserable. Even in the sun it’s not much warmer than freezing. For me the soft light and shadow of this shot catches the chill.

Nice shot. And I done what y’all said and it worked! This makes your world look warm and the doves coo and isn’t it grand. I’m playing golf this morning – it’s 58 degrees now and going to 80. I don’t know how you stand that cold. I’m too old.
I see the occasional mourning dove around here (and showed one from Corkscrew Swamp Sanctuary earlier this week), but we don’t seem to host conventions like this one. Another revenue opportunity blown!
We find them here too, usually in the countryside. They tend to go for feeders, but for the most part, they manage to get through the winter okay.
Strange that we’re so (relatively) close, yet we don’t have them here. Just a tad too far north.
