Merchandising

red-merchandise

There’s a real art to displaying stuff. I know I take it for granted until I come upon an assortment of merchandise that unexpectedly stops me in my tracks. There, like a banquet of eye candy, is an array of things that tell a story or soothe with form and color or texture.

Over the Fence generally does it well. This is the back of their store where they display outdoor items like those above. Inside is more eye candy. I usually lust after something I never though I wanted before. That’s good merchandising.

  1. So you’re saying these stores have been playing psychological tricks on my mind and that’s why I buy a lot of stuff I don’t need! Sheesh! Now you tell me. 🙂

  2. They have to make it look inviting so you’ll stop and buy. Interesting but I wouldn’t fall for it, I guess I wouldn’t be considered a good consumer. I already got rid of stuff I didn’t need, 🙂

  3. I would like this place. I have several smaller cache pots in that burgundy color. They work well inside the Florida house with poinsettias at Christmas time and ferns for the rest of the winter.
