The other mountains

baker-and-trees

It’s an uncommon treat to see Mount Baker as clearly as I did last week. Baker and the Cascade Mountains, east of Sequim, are frequently hidden in overcast or haze; Baker often seems to float in a blurred mist.

  1. It is a beautiful sight. You are lucky to have these fine mountains surrounding you.

And, thanks for your comments on my FB post. Yes, it was bittersweet leaving their Joburg farm behind. Susie consistently said she loved everything inside her fence, but once she left the property, SA was a struggle. And, the dogs didn’t come with them, but they will definitely follow in a month or so. My WH yard is a bit small for them to range around as they are accustomed, but they will be house hunting in southwestern CT and a central requirement is enough space for the dogs.

  2. It is lovely and you did a marvelous job of photographing it. I love seeing the fall colors of the trees in the foreground.

  3. Wow – great shot. I wonder if that was the same day that we say the Olympics so clearly – not as clearly as you saw Mt. Baker – but it is such a treat to be able to see all the way over to the Olympics – always makes me think of you. On that same day we could see the dim outline of Mt. Ranier too – not clear enough for a photos – but seeing Mt. Baker, Mt. Ranier and the Olympic Mountains on the same day was such a treat. Have a grand mountain week ahead – although I hear the rain already starting – looks like a long spell of rain ahead – we’re ready – lots of tea – plenty of books to read – crafts to make and tomorrow I bake orange/banana bread.
