These wild thistles were growing by the parking lot on my way to an appointment. They can draw blood but I find them visually interesting.
These domestic thistles were planted nearby in the landscaping. They have a teddy bear look to them but they’re prickly too.
This wild thistle was growing beside a trail. It’s covered in thorns head to stem.
Wonderful shots. I, too, find thistles wonderful to look at.
Makes me wonder, are artichokes grown in this area?
Excellent shots. I know how the thorns feel because i tripped in to a bunch of thistles once 🙁
Great macro photography. I’m not familiar with the first two examples but we have thistles similar to the last one.
This makes me remember when I was a little girl in school and the class project was taking these thistles and spray painting them either silver or gold! More than likely it was a Mother’s day gift? They hung around the house for years! Thank you for the memories!
Me too, Patricia. My next-door neighbor used gold painted thistles (first shot) as fall decoration back in the 60’s.
They are pretty!
