The local paper had a special section recently that highlighted “she sheds,” the feminine alternative to man caves. A few days later I came across this sweet little outbuilding. The setting is nicely landscaped and the building itself has a cute vibe that would inspire shed envy.
She sheds are where the lady of the house might retreat to creative pursuits. Crafts, artwork, sewing. Stuff without motor oil, sawdust and the like.
She shed??? Now, there’s a new one! Looks like an ideal photographer’s hideaway to me. : )
That’s new to me too, but I like it.
K, you have become my daily breath of fresh air. Each day I get a few more pages accomplished. Thank you. Today’s especially hit the sweet spot.

What a fabulous idea – and a fabulous little cottage. I have to retreat to my studio – but at least I have a place for my fun stuff.
I’ve read about this trend, which I heartily support. I would love to have one located behind my adobe in Santa Fe or perched on a rocky ledge by other beloved location and place of birth, Door County, WI. I have a very rich fantasy life!
This is really cute and a great idea. I hate the phrase “man cave.” What a sexist put-down…sounds like we’re Neanderthals. Actually, I guess Neanderthals make us look good sometimes. Not every man likes to sit and watch stupid football games, smoke cigars and drink beer. So maybe places like this could be shared to accommodate the creative pursuits of both sexes.
There, I’ve said it, and I’m going to bed now.
