I don’t often enough visit the same places that great blue herons do. I really should. They’re beautiful birds.

Herons are indeed great birds. When I first bought a house in Florida, I thought they were a local bird. Now, I see them everywhere, in Canada, in Connecticut and recently in South Africa. They must be quite a resilient bird.

Like Jack, I didn’t realize herons lived in so many various places. I don’t recall seeing them in Minnesota, of California, or Pennsylvania, or… But they are a fine feathered species and lots of fun to photograph. Some of the bigger ones have an amazing wingspan, too.
Yes, this is an amazing bird because of its resilience and it’s beauty. But, then again, I feel that all birds are gifts to our environment.
I do enjoy watching their sheer amount of focus while they’re hunting. Terrific shot!
