The geese are forming up in flocks. At first the groups are small and seem to fly in random patterns. Now the flocks are getting larger and larger, heading more purposefully across the horizon around sunset, sounding like a group of old friends excitedly squawking, catching up on news. Some stick around but most of them seem intent on heading south.

Smart birds eh.
I love this shot! Perhaps because these flying flocks amaze me with their precision and the seeming ability to know exactly what they are doing. Why don’t they run into each other and go crashing to the ground? đŸ™‚
Have a great weekend!
They entertain me while I’m stacking wood these afternoons.
Great shot! They’re doing much the same here.
The instinct of many of nature’s animals leave me in awe. If the weather is good, I hope to drive up to Duluth this coming week to catch the migration of birds that take place every year. It, too, is a beautiful sight.
Yep, the birds are on their way!
Great shot – we are seeing them flocking up over here too. Last week at Birch Bay we saw the first raft of migrating ducks – mallards, pintails and widgeons.
Does it remind you of the line at the ladies’ room at a football game?
