This hotel, the Ann Starrett Mansion, one of those gorgeous Victorian era dwellings, is for sale. It’s in Port Townsend and the asking price is $750,000.
I noticed it a couple of weeks ago and it reignited a completely impractical fantasy I’ve had since I stayed in my first bed and breakfast many years ago. “Wouldn’t it be cool to have a B&B?” I wonder. Cute, cozy rooms. Interesting guests to guide to interesting places. Oh, to be back in the Hospitality Industry!
Then I remember: I hate mornings. I’m retired and I’m very happy for that. And then there’s the little matter of $750,000. Saved again from my fantasies.
The building certainly has character.
One of my dreams also – but just a dream. The house is fabulous!!!
Fantasies can be good, but a B&B would not be one of mine. I’d rather be served than serve! :)) Lovely building, though. This is the kind of place I like to explore all the little nooks and crannies. Never know what you’ll find!
It is quite a place! One could always drop in and stay the night, but running one? No.
Better then my last dream. hahaha
Hey, is Arrowsmith playing here? “Dream On”.
I had the same dream, once, any moons ago.
This looks like a gem! With a price tag under $1 million, it would be a steal here. You’re so right about the B & B fantasy — great ….until you realize all the labor involved. Hope all’s well on the west coast!
Fantasies and magical thinking is fun; helps us keep our sanity in a practical world. How about a B&B just for bloggers?! You’d be a great hostess and we would all sleep in and get up late in the morning so you wouldn’t get grumpy.
Yes, and the work of the laundry every day, the cooking breakfasts every day. Fun and maybe not too hard when you are energetic but life would go on when you are feeling under the weather with flu or cold. We see a lot of the Bed and Breakfasts go up for sale here, same with the Lavender Farms!
