Rose hip
The wild roses are gone and now the rose hips are ripening to bright red. Soon the leaves will drop and just the hips will be left.

So that is what theses things are. I have seen them but never knew.
You have included some fairly ominous phrases in your post today: “are gone now” and “the leaves will drop”… the relentless march of fall and dastardly winter!
Love to watch the critters feasting on the rose hips. Especially the squirrels – they do love them.
Terrific macro! So that’s what they’re called.
Beautiful light. Colors really pop.
I’m afraid Fall really is on the way. My Burning Bush is “blushing” and already has a couple of red leaves.
Super shot of the rose hip, Kay!
Rose hips are the fruit of roses. If you cut the blooms, the rose hips won’t form. I’ve never eaten one, but they make good jellies and tea. 🙂
Don’t they put these in some vitamin? The name’s familiar but I never knew what they were. They must be edible, right?
